Android Vs The iPhone

We all are well aware of the stir and buzz the iPhone has caused in the mobile markets around the world. This device has broke record sales and brought the American market to its knees, but I find it astonishing the ignorance that has come with it. People buy this device not because of its features or innovation, but rather the brand on the back in the shape of a fruit.

I know many people with an iPhone and I always ask them what entices them about their phone and they always respond "Oh its an iPhone." I can contribute my bias about the iPhone due to the fact that I am the proud owner of an Android. Contrary to this, my bias is not based on a brand or a name, but the amazing performance I receive from my phone and the capabilities it provides me with.

Is it the fast processor, the availability of innovated applications at the palm of my hands, or the the ignorance of an symbol? The social norms of our society has created a corrupt black hole in the mobile market. The cellular market is flawed. I advise you the next time you intend to purchase a new product, whatever it may be, the decision is made out of the knowledge and research that supports your claim not a brand or social icon turning you into the social conformist to a lesser product.

Network: It is no secret that Verizon has a far superior network than AT&T and in order to take advantage of all the great features smart phones have to offer, you must have a good network. Verizon invests millions of dollars to increase services and expand their great coverage, insuring that you can use your phone in more places and in more ways.  Not only that, Verizon Wireless was ranked number 1 in call quality by ConsumerSearch.com; highest customer satisfaction and fewest dropped calls. Verizon is constantly testing their network to insure that demands of their 99.7 million customers is met, and preventing possible problems. Their network is supported by industry leading redundancy and maintenance measures, which is why they the top rated cellular carrier in reliability.

Processor: In todays expanding media, we thrive on being able to run our favorite programs and applications at the fastest speed, which is were Android development really excels. These phones have a 1GHZ bad boy fueling the fun, which will help you surf the internet faster, and decrease your loading time.

Camera: We love our pictures. Weather you are taking a picture on your family vacation, or a new pic to upload on your Facebook page, with Android, you can be sure that your pictures will come out crystal clear with the 8 Mega Pixel camera. Thats 3 more MP that the iPhone.

New Android Features: The new Android phones are packed with a new voice recognition feature making it easy to navigate through your application and even text. Android also has developed a Mobile hot spot feature allowing you to connect to the internet through your phone.   Now, all you have to do is bring your phone along, and you will have access to the Verizon network in the palm of your hands.  The market place on Android is constantly expanding increasing the availability of more and more innovative applications every day.

Data plans are not cheap, so why dish out extra money for a data plan with limited reliability and coverage. Apple has created a better name, not a better product, which must be considered before it comes time to purchase your new phone.  It is important to consider the differences between these devices, in network and capability, rather than social conformities and a brand name.  Android phones are great devices with loads of great features and perks, while they also allow you to connect to an unmatchable network, making these phones perfect for anyone looking to get a new phone.

I'm with you. I love my droid. We looked at iPhones but decided on the Droid, more because of how it felt to use it. The Droid is very easy to use and I can do things with it (like drag docs, pics, etc, from my droid to my laptop) that my colleagues with iPhones can't do.

With so many choices of smartphones nowaday, it is definitely hard to pick the one. Go for the functionality, brand, following the fad, price, etc.

Indeed is a good article written for both the top phones in the market. iPhone came in earlier than Android but that doesn't mean it will be better.

Hi KenWu,

I agree, there really are a lot of choices on the market for phones, making it really important for people to research before they buy.

Hi divacratus,

It really drives me crazy when some of the people that have iPhones act like they're better than everyone else, and I'm glad you found it useful.
